Socializing is the key to owning a good natured pit bull.
The one thing people do not realize is Pit Bulls are not "just like any other dog." They need to be exercised and socialized with other dogs and people, other than the ones they live with. This is a very important part of owning an American Pit Bull Terrier. We have personally seen how these dogs are if they are not raised correctly and trained right. They help people realize these myths about Pit Bulls are true. They are the best dogs to have, if you know how to take care of them!
I own two pit bulls and have had many in and out of our home. My parents are deathly afraid of my dogs. This being only because of their breed. After being around my dogs they realized that not all pit bulls are aggressive and mean. My parents' neighbor has a pit bull mix and she crossed the road to come to my parents' yard and attack their little shih tzu. This did not help their mind-set about pit bulls. The neighbor just lets his dogs run around and does not spend any time playing with or training his dogs. It is people like this that let pit bulls live up to their bad name.
PLEASE, if you are considering buying an American Pit Bull Terrier, make sure you have enough room in your life to take care of it. They deserve this much!
